Sherlock Holmes was genius. I don't think I'd ever go to a movie I think would suck. I never read the synopsis or saw who was in it or anything. I just went to the movie.
But here's the synopsis anyway:
After finally catching serial killer and occult "sorcerer" Lord Blackwood, legendary sleuth Sherlock Holmes [Downey Jr.] and his assistant Dr. Watson [Law] can close yet another successful case. But when Blackwood mysteriously returns from the grave and resumes his killing spree, Holmes must take up the hunt once again. Contending with his partner's new fiancée and the dimwitted head of Scotland Yard, the dauntless detective must unravel the clues that will lead him into a twisted web of murder, deceit, and black magic - and the deadly embrace of temptress Irene Adler.Anyway, the plot is a bit hard to follow at first, but over some, twenty or thirty minutes, you begin to understand what the hell is going on. You are thrown right into the world of Sherlock Holmes. The acting, stunts, and camera work was wonderful.

And the smart dialogue also helped this movie a whole lot. Funny and exciting. It was hard NOT to watch. With some bone crunching fast motion and live action footage, you get a taste of how smart Holmes really is.
Some actors to me were unrecognizable. [Like Jude Law.]

I seriously had no idea he was in the movie until I walked out of the theatre and saw the posters. I did notice Rachael McAdams though. She's very easy to spot.

The acting, in my opinion, was superb and brought out great performances from everyone involved.
Costume design was very realistic, as was the set even though it did look pretty fake, the whole look to it was pretty damn amazing. Everything in the movie just fit and meshed very well.
The story line was exciting and a bit hard to catch how I said earlier, but everything comes into place towards the end. Some parts were a bit like watching a more eye-friendly Saw movie. Plus, they have a psycho weird-ass villain, that's nothing like Jigsaw.

And the movie in general is so well done!
You are left with a awesome cliffhanger which for the sake of my curiosity, I hope they make a sequel. I know this review made no sense, so I just suggest you watch the movie. It won't disappoint.

Rating: 4.3 out of 5 stars.
